About The Artwork

Divine Romance is a visual meditation on the eternal love between Radha and Krishna—the highest symbol of the soul’s longing for union with the Divine. In the bhakti tradition, their relationship is not a worldly affair but a sacred metaphor for selfless, pure love (bhakti) that transcends all social and material boundaries. Radha embodies the devoted soul, while Krishna represents the Supreme Being, the source of all love and consciousness.

This painting captures the subtle tension between yearning and fulfillment, intimacy and surrender, reflecting the soul’s journey toward complete offering of the heart. The interplay of colors, forms, and gestures evokes the timeless dance between the feminine divine energy and the masculine divine consciousness—a dance that has inspired art, poetry, music, and devotion for centuries.

Rewa Walia - Christchurch, New Zealand

My work is a meditation on the ecstatic pain of spiritual separation, the richness of cultural heritage, and the transformative power of love. I believe that art can be both a personal sanctuary and a catalyst for dialogue—bridging worlds, generations, and hearts. In my practice, separation from the divine is not simply sorrowful, but a profound, transformative ecstasy.
