About The Artwork
As children we have a lot of dreams. Our naivete leads us to believe that the world is at our feet and we can achieve all these dreams. But as we grow older, we are faced with reality and the harshness of life. Our dreams seem foolish. We start losing our way and get trapped in the labyrinth of life- not living but merely surviving.

But if we are lucky enough to have people who love us and support us - their strength acts like Ariadne's string for us. Guiding us through the twists and turns of the labyrinth. Allowing us to rediscover our lost dream wings. Helping us realise that though we maybe momentarily lost - life is still beautiful and dreams still vibrant and worth chasing after

Uttam Bhattacharya - Kolkata, India

I do believe that humans are the most beautiful creation of God. Their myriad of expressions, their joys, sorrows and their dreams always fascinate me, intrigue me and fill my mind with wonder and awe. Through my painting, I try to capture my fascination in my own way. In my painting, I intentionally deviate from the realistic portrayal of figures in order to capture and bring to life their world of dreams, agonies and ecstasies in my canvas. The characters I create are from the surrealistic DREAM world. They have dreamy closed eyes-transporting the viewers to their own mystic land of DREAM.

I take help of dark colours to capture their pain and bright colour over it to capture their dreams and their hopes of finding endless possibilities within despair and deep trouble. Through my painting I always try to portray the rhythm of life- brightness in the middle of impregnable dark, joy in the midst of sorrow and hope amidst desperation.

My educational qualifications are something different from my profession and passion, still I love to share
