About the Artwork :

Holy dip at Banaras Kashi –

This watercolour painting encapsulates the deep spiritual atmosphere depicting pilgrims taking a holy dip in the sacred river Ganaga at Kashi, Banaras.

The foreground of the painting shows the gentle flow of the Ganges with the ripples painted with soft shades of blues creating an inviting pattern capturing the play of natural light.

The pilgrims standing in the waist-deep water in the river performing their sacred rituals stands out as the focal point with some partly immersed in the river, while others seen cupping water in their hands.

The ghats of Banaras forms the backdrop, with their distinctive stone steps and the temples and structures lining the ghats exhibiting the beauty of the whole place..

In the quietude of this moment, the painting aims to convey the profound spirituality, the timeless rituals, and the deep connection between the people and the sacred Ganges River in the heart of Banaras, known as Kashi.
