ABOUT THE ARTIST

I have always felt a deep connection with the universe and have spent hours in nature, watching clouds drift, and looking at the horizon, which appears endless. Born and brought up in the desert lands of Rajasthan, I remember the clearest of the blue sky, unending and stretching far before fading into the distant horizon.

After moving to Bangalore about 18 years ago, I found the horizon lined with trees and greenery. Clouds and concrete filled up my vision. The fistful of sky seen between the green foliage and concrete structures of the city was precious to me, a reminder of home and a way to stay connected with the world outside. This inspired me to paint a series titled ‘Fragments of an Infinite Sky’, which was exhibited in 2023.

As a continuation of it, my next solo exhibition ‘(Un)Contained’ was a look at the natural world, through the concrete and the build landscape, and looks for quiet and solace in a busy city environment. The Kangra school of miniatures heavily influences my work to portray my life in the city.
